Small tender roots in the brassica family that are wonderful roasted, steamed, sauteed, simmered in soups and stews, or slivered and stir fried. Cook until just tender or they will lose some of their earthy-sweetness. Baby turnips can also be eaten raw in salads but you might want to salt the cut pieces first as you do eggplant to drain out excess moisture. These are grown organically on County Line Harvest's boutique farm in Thermal, CA. When turnip tops are nice and fluffy, you can cook them in a saute of greens for soup or pasta, or chop and add to a stuffed pasta filling.
