Prized in Italy, India and the mideast, Prickly Pears are also known as cactus pears. They are the fruit of a cactus and have flaming scarlett flesh that is grainy, soft and starchy-sweet. Prickly Pears make good sauces, jams and desserts and, when seeded, are often juiced or added to cocktails.
