Baldor Specialty Foods Brings Together Farmers, Chefs & Industry Leaders for Evening of Celebration
On Monday night, the upstairs of the Skylight Modern on 27th Street in NYC was transformed into a farmer’s market where celebrity chefs, (such as Bill Telepan and and Liz Neumark), restauranteurs, and other notables in the food industry walked the “green carpet,” and sampled some of the most colorful produce from local farms across the country, along with a gin lemonade in a mason jar decorated with a striped straw.
Downstairs, more than 500 guests were treated to iconic cuisine from some of the most unique restaurants in the US including Guerrilla Tacos (LA), Mac’s Seafood (Cape Cod), Lockhart Smokehouse (Dallas), Prejean’s (New Orleans), Jimmy’s Famous Seafood (Baltimore), Johnny O’s (Chicago) and Havana (Miami). The great food was complimented by a great performance from Indie rock band, Dispatch.
The event was thrown by Baldor Specialty Foods to unveil their new website that has completely automated the food ordering process for their customers. The site, which features products and information on more than 80 farms and 4,000 items, provides a unique ecommerce experience for the food industry. It offers complete transparency and allows customers to know where their ingredients are coming from, what the growing practices are, who the people are behind the products they buy, seasonal availability, weather patterns and specialty items, just to name a few.
Baldor also announced that a portion of online sales will be donated to Edible Schoolyard NYC, to help give NYC school children access to healthy food.
