Domestic Red Bartletts are grown only in California and the Pacific northwest. They're early season pears, best in late summer or early fall when their sweet, musky juice is most pronounced. This variety ripens with a shiny, speckled skin and red blush. Red Barletts run slightly smaller than the yellow variety and are delicious roasted whole to use in savory dishes. Don't wait for Bartletts to soften - they ripen from the inside out so should be eaten while still slightly firm. Availability: August - December
